Hosted by the Oxbridge Venture Club (OVC) and organized by LinkBridge International, the artist residency program “The Oriental Aesthetics in Cui Jingzhe's Brushstrokes” recently took place at Sidney Sussex College in the heart of Cambridge. Students, postdocs, visiting scholars, professors, and tutors from the University of Cambridge, alongside professionals and art enthusiasts from diverse fields who still make time for the arts, gathered together. In the winter of Cambridge, they engaged in an in-depth exchange on Eastern aesthetics.

This event featured renowned contemporary Chinese fine-brush painter Cui Jingzhe, who systematically introduced the aesthetic framework and creative logic of fine-brush painting through his artistic practice and representative works. During his presentation, Cui used multiple vivid creative examples to analyze the differences between underglaze and overglaze techniques in terms of production processes and artistic expression, helping the audience develop an intuitive understanding of the relationship between materials, techniques, and visual effects. Complex techniques no longer seemed distant; instead, they were presented in a way that brought them closer to the realities of artistic practice.
